Frequently Asked Questions
Practical answers about meeting people, searching trips, following travelers and sharing your diary.
What is ChatVoyager?
ChatVoyager is a Travel Dating Community that connects travelers and people worldwide who share a passion for travel and a desire to meet. Search profiles, start conversations, discover trips and share your travel diary — for dating, friendship or local tips.
Is ChatVoyager free to use?
Yes, ChatVoyager is currently free to use. Create an account and confirm your email to search profiles, chat, browse and follow trips, or publish updates in your own diary.
How do I find people in another city?
Use Exploration Mode to set your search location to a city you’re interested in, then search profiles using filters and distance. You can send a Wave or a direct message to someone you’d like to get to know.
What is the difference between a trip and Exploration Mode?
A trip (real travel) lets you share a destination and dates, with a diary for posts, photos and check-ins. Use Exploration Mode to search for or contact people in another location without creating a trip. This mode does not include a travel diary. Both options are available in the Travel section.
How do I search for trips?
Use ChatVoyager’s Discovery trip search in Travel → Discover to find users’ trips and explorations. Filter by country, type or period, and follow real trips to receive diary updates with photos, posts and check-ins. You can also join in with comments and travel tips on diary posts.
How do I follow a trip?
In Travel → Discovery trip, use Follow on a current real trip that interests you. Your followed trips appear in the Followed tab, and you receive notifications when their owners publish new diary updates. You can unfollow a trip when you no longer want its updates.
How do I create my own travel diary?
In Travel, start a new plan, choose your destination city and select a real trip. Add your dates and, optionally, a title for the journey. Once the trip is created, open its diary to publish your first update.
What can I publish in a travel diary?
Share text updates, photos and city check-ins, separately or together. We encourage you to share your best photos, stories and useful travel tips to inspire and contribute to the community. People who can view your trip can read the diary, leave comments and add reactions.
Can I edit or delete a diary update?
Use the options on your own post to edit its text or delete it. Deleting a post also removes its photos, captions, comments and reactions, so review the confirmation before proceeding.
How does a check-in work?
When creating a diary post, choose Check-in, search for the city you are in and select it. The city is added to your post. For now, we prefer to share only the city rather than your exact location.
Who can see my travel diary?
Your diary is visible to community members who can view the trip, including people who do not follow it. Share photos, updates and locations you’re comfortable making visible to them. You can always edit the text of your updates or delete posts to remove the information you’ve shared.
What happens when I conclude a trip?
The trip leaves the current Discovery trip results and remains in your past trips, with its diary still available. We recommend keeping past trips as your personal travel history and to continue sharing their photos, posts and tips with the community. Past journeys can be found using the period filter.
How does my search location work?
Your active trip or exploration sets the location used for profile search and distances. When you conclude it, your previous location is restored. A city check-in is attached to a diary post rather than a new trip or exploration.
How can I start a conversation?
Find a profile that interests you and send a Wave, or use Direct Message to send a personal introduction and start a new conversation. On a travel diary, you can share useful information or travel tips in comments visible to everyone who can view the diary.
Are all conversations private?
Yes, one-to-one chat conversations are personal and private. Information and comments shared on travel diary posts are visible to the community, as are messages in the Global Chat.
How do I complete my profile?
Open your Profile to add a bio, interests, languages and what you’re looking for. Photos are an important part of presenting yourself, both in your profile picture and your photo gallery. Complete as many details as you can and keep them up to date. You can also change your mood text at any time; it appears directly in profile search results.
Do I need a profile photo?
A profile photo is optional. Your profile photo (avatar) appears throughout the site and may also feature in updates on dedicated pages or email newsletters, so choose an image that represents you well. Complete as much of your profile as possible to help others get to know you.
What can I do about unwanted messages?
Use the reporting and blocking tools for unwanted messages, and manage blocked contacts or unblock them in Settings. You can also report problems to the ChatVoyager team for review and moderation; serious cases may lead to account suspension or blocking.
How do I delete my account?
You have the right to request account deletion at any time in Settings. This permanently deletes your account and all associated information. Before proceeding, save your published photos and content to avoid losing them. Settings also lets you download your account data in digital form as part of your GDPR rights.
How can I contact support?
Go to Settings and open the Send feedback form to report a problem or suggest an improvement. We really appreciate your ideas and helpful reports to make ChatVoyager better. Please allow some time for reports and feedback to be reviewed and processed. You can also email infochatvoyager@gmail.com.
